Know Before You Buy:
Size & Health Facts

Size Disclosure:

While our puppies are classified and registered as a Miniature Dachshund,

previous and future families need to acknowledge that due to genetics,

it is possible for a puppy from a Miniature Dachshund litter to exceed the

miniature size standard as it matures.

A Miniature Dachshund is typically under 11 pounds at 12 months of age,

but no guarantees are made regarding the adult size of this dog.

Size potential is influenced by lineage, nutrition,

and other variables beyond Dollhouse Doxie's control.

While we here at Dollhouse Doxies do our due diligence when choosing our breeding dogs

to try and maintain the miniature size, genetic factors can show up unexpectedly.

Some breeders refer to this as “throwback”.

Health Awareness:

Previous and future families understand that Dachshunds, like all dog breeds,

are predisposed to certain hereditary and breed-specific health conditions.

Common health concerns in Dachshunds include, but are not limited to:

• Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)

• Obesity-related joint strain

• Dental disease

• Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA)

• Epilepsy

• Patellar Luxation

While we here at Dollhouse Doxies take all reasonable and responsible precautions to

breed for great health and temperament, and all our puppies will have been examined by a

licensed veterinarian, but no guarantees can be made regarding the long-term health of the dog.

All new dachshund families should agree to maintain proper veterinary care,

a healthy diet, and an appropriate exercise routine to reduce health risks.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND ANY NEW DACHSHUND OWNER TO PLEASE DO YOUR DUE DILIGENCE AND RESEARCH THE BREED BEFORE BUYING!
